Is a cracked laptop screen worth fixing?
Often, yes. The rest of the laptop is usually fine, and a screen is one of the more common repairs. Whether it makes sense depends on a few things.
Call (470) 359-2999Text usSend a messageCheck these four things
- How old is the laptop? A newer laptop is usually worth repairing. A very old one may not be.
- Does it still run well? If it’s slow for other reasons too, you may want to fix those at the same time or replace it.
- What does the screen cost for your model? Prices vary a lot between models.
- How much do you rely on it? If it’s your daily machine, a repair is often quicker than setting up a new one.
Can you keep using it?
If the picture is still clear, the cracks may be only cosmetic, but they tend to spread, and loose glass can cut. If the picture is damaged, you can often plug the laptop into an external monitor to keep working until it’s repaired.
What a repair involves
A cracked display panel can’t be glued back together. It has to be replaced. Before replacing it, a good shop checks that the screen is really the problem and not the cable or the graphics. At OneTechPro we check that first and tell you the price before any work starts.
Compare it with replacing
Ask for the repair price, then compare it with what a similar laptop would cost you. If the repair is a small part of that, repairing is usually the better choice. We also sell computers and take trade-ins if replacing makes more sense.
