Why is my phone battery draining so fast?
Fast draining is usually one of two things: something on the phone using a lot of power, or a battery that has worn out. You can check the first yourself in a few minutes.

Open your phone’s battery settings and look at which apps use the most. One app far above the rest is a clue. Try closing it, updating it or removing it.
Quick fixes to try
- Lower the screen brightness and shorten the screen timeout.
- Turn off background refresh for apps you don’t need.
- Switch on low power mode when you’re out.
- Update the phone and your apps. Bugs in old versions can drain power.
- Restart the phone.
Signs the battery itself is worn
- It drains fast even with light use.
- It shuts off with charge still showing.
- It gets hot while charging or idle.
- The phone is a few years old.
- The back is swollen or the screen is lifting. Stop charging it and bring it in.
What a replacement involves
Batteries lose capacity over the years. A worn battery can be replaced, and the phone then lasts as it did when it was newer. At OneTechPro we test the battery first so you only pay for a replacement if you need one.
Need a hand with this?
